Hosted by Dokuz Eylül University, the first of the ‘University – Industry Cooperation Matchmaking Events’ was held on December 10, 2019 under the coordination of Dokuz Eylül Technology Transfer Office – DETTO and Dokuz Eylül Technology Development Zone-DEPARK. In the first meeting with the theme of ‘Textile’, representatives of R&D Centers operating in the textile sector in the Aegean Region came together with faculty members from Dokuz Eylül University’s Computer Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Textile Engineering and Chemical Engineering Departments. After the speeches of DEPARK General Manager Osman Başbuğ and DETTO Coordinator Prof. Dr. Hasan Selim, who jointly emphasized that they will continue to work to strengthen the R&D and Innovation ecosystem by continuing to work towards the establishment and sustainability of the University-Industry cooperation mechanism, Dokuz Eylül University Rector Prof. Dr. Nükhet Hotar pointed out that events to improve University-Industry Cooperation are not organized frequently and said, “We are aware of our responsibility for such meetings, which are not held much in Izmir. From now on, we will organize much more effective and more numerous meetings. As an organization, we are used to breaking new ground. With this first meeting, we have determined our road map, revealed our potential, identified our resources and stakeholders. In the following process, we have expectations in terms of planning the activities of our country, especially in the textile sector, and taking concrete steps. Unlocking the potential of the textile sector will be possible with innovations, developments and new steps supported by R&D activities. R&D activities will be realized with the scientific support of universities. In this sense, our valuable team has prepared alternative presentations for you at every point. They will give you alternative road maps, and our very competent professors will make predictions on this subject. I am sure that our cooperation will continue based on concrete results. As Dokuz Eylül University, we are ready to support this cooperation.” After the opening speeches, Dokuz Eylul University academicians and company representatives held discussions on R&D and Innovation-oriented projects.
