The third technopark building of DEPARK, the technology development zone of Dokuz Eylül University, is opening its doors for new inventions. DEPARK, which has hosted the R&D projects of 100 companies in the Nar complex, Olive and Alpha buildings so far, will continue its services in the 15,000 square meter area it will reach with the opening of the Beta building. DEPARK, where university and industry cooperation turns into inventions, works 24/7 to make İzmir the “Innovation Capital” with its services. Dokuz Eylül University, which contributes to the development of Izmir’s R&D and innovation capacity by transforming university/industry collaborations developed through Dokuz Eylül Technology Transfer Office into new initiatives, is proud that the light of innovation rises from Izmir.

What is Technopark?
According to the definition of the International Association of Science Parks (IASP), a Technopark is an enterprise based on incentives and ownership that is formally or operationally associated with one or more universities or other higher education institutions and research centers, designed to encourage the establishment and development of industrial companies based on knowledge and advanced technologies, and has a management function that will provide support to tenant companies in technology transfer and business management. The common purpose of Technoparks is to accelerate the economic transformation of the accumulated knowledge activated / multiplied in R&D and innovation with the cooperation of universities and industry by creating new entrepreneurs from the human power trained in the fields of science and technology, through technology-based companies established by qualified entrepreneurs.
What is a Technology Transfer Office?
Technology Transfer Office (TTO) is an organization working in the fields of R&D, innovation, entrepreneurship and commercialization in order to produce knowledge, technology and innovation and transform them into commercializable technological products and services for the benefit of society, to create an effective university-industry cooperation mechanism and to ensure its sustainability. The three main functions of the technology transfer office are:
- To ensure the protection of intellectual assets by transforming the knowledge and technology at universities into practice,
- To ensure that the idea or invention with high commercialization potential that emerges as a result of the research is incorporated in the technopark and to provide consultancy for business development processes in this context,
- To establish cooperation between the university and private sector organizations and to help the university to produce the knowledge, technology and innovation needed by the society/industry.
